Maine Nutrition Council's Annual Conference Highlights the Importance of Healthy Oceans, Aquaculture, & Nutrition

MEFTI wants to thank the organizers and sponsors of this year’s Maine Nutrition Council Annual Conference for a well-attended, informative, and excellent event!

The event highlighted the role that aquaculture can play in feeding Mainers and in the Maine economy, along with the need to creatively and progressively steward these resources, along with supporting the environment which hosts them and supporting the producers and consumers which depend on them.

This year’s Maine Nutrition Council Annual Conference occurred on May 11 and featured the following speakers:

Keynote Speaker Sebastian Belle, Executive Director of the Maine Aquaculture Association

Plenary Speaker Barton Seaver, Chef, Author and Seafood Educator

And breakout session speakers Abigail Barrows, Marine Scientist and Research Associate, College of the Atlantic/Ocean Analytics; Steve Eddy, Director of the Center for Cooperative Aquaculture Research/Scence Advisor, Maine Coast Sea Vegetables; Dr. Andrew Smith, State Toxicologist with DHHS/ Center for Disease Control and Prevention; Afton Vigue, Outreach and Development Specialist at the Maine Aquaculture Association.
